which oil to use in my Suzuki outboard motor?
By Ken on May 01, 2010 with Comments 2
I just pulled my 1983 Suzuki DT30 outboard out after years of storage. Decided to get it running again. Need to change oil in the lower unit and not sure how much and of what to put back in? Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I cannot guess on this one. My last Suzuki outboard was 10 years ago. Call a Suzuki Dealer and they will tell you. To change you will need to take out both stainless steel screws out. One just on the underside of the gear case and the other just above the trim plate. To replace the oil, stick the oil container spout into the bottom hole and squeeze the oil in until it runs out of the top hole. Quickly put the bottom screw back in and the the top screw.
Since you are going to be doing your own maintenance you should purchase a outboard repair manual from a boating store or E-bay.

type = SUPER TECH lower unit oil
how =The motor must be in the down position , first drain the old oil, remove lower plug first ( with a drain pan under the foot , of course ), then remove the top plug. let it drain for 10 -15 min.’s Note: i put a short (12″) piece of clear rubber tubing on the neck of the bottle of oil. Insert the other end tubing into the bottom drain plug hole, turn the bottle upside down , now squeeze the bottle gently until oil comes out of the top hole of the lower unit , when it dose , that’s how much it takes . Without moving the bottle , replace the top drain plug. now remove the tubing from the bottom drain and replace the plug.
